It important to submit your article to the right category, and respect each sites rules. For example some sites don’t allow then more then 2 anchor in the author box, others 3, etc.
Most of the sites allow you to put html in the author box with the preferred keywords, so don’t forget that, it one of the main reasons you submit the articles to these sites.

Below you can see a list of article directories i recently made, directories gather based on backlinks, age, pr, alexa rank, indexed pages, and other factors.
